I've been pondering the idea of trying a ROC-N-SOCK drum throne for a steel seat. Has anyone tried these before? I'm not sure of the height difference but I'm sure these have to be adjustable. Now when I say ROC-N-SOCK I don't mean the standard models, I'm sort of leaning towards something like the "Motion Thrones" they make. I'm a big guy and I need something pretty sturdy with a thick cushion that won't sink down to the plywood when I sit on it. I'm lacking that support with my current seat. Any other ideas ???
Thanks. _________________ Benjamin Turner |

For what it's worth, Ben----I love the feel of a good drum throne. I use one at home. But it's a pain to carry to a gig. It doesn't fit into anything except a big duffel so it's just another odd sized/shaped thing to carry.
I did a session a while ago and tried out the studio's super-duper throne that had shock absorbers and stuff. My butt felt a king but I didn't at all like the movement of the seat. I want solid grounding. I don't mind swivel but this up & down stuff didn't work for me. I'm not sure if that's what your throne is about. If you can buy it from someplace like MF where you can return it if you don't like it, who knows---maybe it's what you're looking for. |

I recently bought a Tama HT741 drum throne with backrest and absolutely love it.
Just my opinion other's mileage may vary.
