I am using a Peavey Nashville 112 with a Carter Pro single ten. Closest I can come to a decent sound with the amp is by following Peavery's settings but it still lacks prescence & warmth. Have tried all kinds of strings. Would some kind of tube pre amp help or should I consider changing the pickup on the steel.

| You will never get warmth out of a 112. It wasn't designed for it. Digital amp for one. Its a bright amp. |

| Although it does not have a 15" speaker, the existing 12" speaker definitely sounds good as is. I suggest that you try another preamp and/or a different speaker combination by using the preamp out jack on the rear panel. This 12" speaker sounds really good. But, also try another guitar as it might be the guitar. |

Thanks Mike- I will definitel try a pre amp. But I have a feeling that I will end up trying another pickup...the George L's on the guitar are just all single coil edge...

| I was in the same boat. I think its the pickup as my Carter George L never got a great sound with my 112 (tried every setting possible). The lack of headroom was always a problem. It has a warm sound but not clean enough with my Carter. This was the case with or without a black box, Hilton or pot pedal. I know there a folks that love the Carter/ 112 combo with humbuckers but I to me the 112 sounds best with single coils. I'm back to the powerful, great headroom and clarity of a 400! The 112 is my practice amp now.I doubt Frank will find that sound he wants with his combo unless he changes the guitar or pickups.But he might have more luck that me. |

| I'll go pretty much with the same settings Mikey has. I don't cut my mids quite that much (-6), but we're using different guitars, strings, hands, and everything else that will affect tone. I play a red guitar, but I do wear black shoes when I play. Does that count? |

Believe what Mike says. I used a 112 with a stock Carter for the last 6 months. Don't waste your money changing pickups, etc. It is what it is and it's not bad. But it doesn't touch my Emmons thru a '65 Fender Twin.

I had a JCH with a GL E66 and now a Nash LTD with a 710 and I've had no problem with not enough warmth and I set the lows 0 to 3 o'clock. I'm happy with mine as is my back.
