I was just wondering how it should sound and feel like when I do it. Assume a slide on the standard E9 strings 4, 5, and 6 third fret A pedal down to open with AB down. Then open strings 8, 6, and 5 AB down to fifth fret no pedals.

Thank you;

Sherman

Is this possible? I have never slid the bar lower than the first fret; when I want open position I lift the bar. I have always been afraid that the bar would damage the nut rollers, or that the nut rollers would scratch the bar. Do people do this? Good question!

It's tricky, but you can slide right off the neck and do it pretty cleanly with practice.

Rather than that move, I would suggest the 8th fret with the knee lever that lowers the E string to Eb and then sliding down to the 5th fret, no pedals.
That would going from the E minor chord to the A major chord.

Bryan -- you are right. I tried it today for the first time ever and it is do-able without damaging anything. But there was sometimes a slight buzz as I got near the roller nuts.

Thanks for enlightening me, guys. A new trick, even if I never use it...
