Jim Vest:
Musician, Producer, Songwriter, Publisher, Singer, Actor and Band Leader of the “Nashville Cats” performing at the Western Room in Printer’s Alley. Jim has played the steel guitar on many, many hit records by the top name artists. He was awarded the “Super Picker Award” for playing on a million seller record. Jim was the man that started the Steel Guitar Hall Of Fame in Nashville but when he realized that he did not have the time to pursue it he gave permission to Scotty to move it to St. Louis. The year was 1978.
Don Helms:
A legend in his own time! We all recognize Don Helms as the signature sound of Hank Williams. A member of the Steel Guitar Hall Of Fame, he has received many awards and has been on many documentary talk shows, too numerous to list here! Don was the most listened to Steel Guitar Player in the world during his long association with Hank.
Bob Breidenbach:
A local St. Louis musician who is highly respected throughout the area. He is proficient on both the Dobro and the steel guitar, both the non pedal lap steel as well as the pedal steel. Bob will be playing with his own band, "The Orbits". His Dobro playing is right up there with the best of them! His ability allows him to play the older traditional sounds as well as the most modern up to date styles. Having Bob and his band will be an exciting time for us all.
DeWitt “Scotty” Scott:
Scotty doesn't normally play on his own steel guitar show productions but he has agreed to play on this one. Scotty's first steel guitar had 6 strings and in the 1950's he, like almost every other steel player, switched to the pedal steel guitar. He made quite a reputation writing instruction books for the pedal steel having them published by the Sho~Bud Steel Guitar Company in Nashville and also by Mel Bay Publications in Pacific, MO. After all this time Scotty has reverted back to the 6 string steel guitar and will be playing his 1932 Rickenbacker Frypan in the C6th Tuning. He still plays the pedal steel guitar but he started playing the non pedal steel at all of the steel guitar show around the world...as he was surrounded by so many pedal steel players so no one was playing the non pedal steel, the idea caught on and his playing is certainly appreciated by many fans of the non pedal steel everywhere!
