Doug I'm looking forward to checking this one out.
By the way this is the version found in must church Hymnels in the key of D.

I know at least 3 different melodys used for this song including one shared with the folk song "Flow Gently Sweet Aften"

That's interesting Janice. I have never run across a song with so many different melodies.

I took this version from May Bay's GUITAR CHRISTMAS CAROLS. I have a Hal Leonard song book called THE BEST CHRISTMAS SONGS EVER and I was amazed to discover that the melody for AWAY IN A MANGER is totally different in the two books. They sound like two different songs. They are both written in G. I tried each version and this one seemed to be more familiar. Thanks, db

Thanks from Arizona also. I remember singing that song from when I was just a little bitty feller.

Christmas wouldn't be Christmas without the children singing that song.
