Wondering if anyone else has come up with a simulated dobro guitar besides the Marrs guitars. Even home made guitars. What would you use as a resonator if you only have a 4" diam. to work with? Waiting for your replies..... Dennis ![Confused](images/smiles/icon_confused.gif) |

I'm not sure I understand your question, but Marv Phleuger Makes a dobro shaped simulator using the Marrs electronics. He modified a real dobro for me using the same elect. It is of course all electronic and has no acoustics to speak of but if you want to compete with the teles it'll do it and sounds remarkably like a real dobro. You'd need to be an electronics genius to improve on the Marrs electronics. |

Hello Don. I guess I'm looking for ideas from you fine folks. I have my son cutting a shape I drew up for a simulated dobro as a project. Its from a piece of solid aluminum. Its going into a c.n.c machine for its cut outs and carving of the shape. I'll only have a 4" dia. space for the resinator ( instead of a cat can type). Its a larger area than a cat food can. I'm hoping to get more resination from the larger space. I've owned the Marrs in the past and I think they are great but, this is ment to be a fun project and I'm hoping to get some helpful input and ideas. Thanks again Don. Dennis |

Don't quote me on this, but I believe the Marrs/Phlueger Dobro simulator does not use a cat food can anymore, but is all electronic. |

You can do a reasonable job in the studio.
Can you tell what this was played on?

This is my friend Dan in my studio, playing a piece that he calls "Georgia Porch".
He's from Birmingham- Birmingham UK that is, but his heart is in the Mississippi delta.
This is played on a cheap, heavy strung, unbranded acoustic using an unbranded pickup.
The reso effect was done on ProTools using a multi-band filter and some automation on the resonance control.
Cheers
Dave
P.S.
Ask in any cafe- they have bigger tins than petfood ones! |

Dennis...
I've got a Melobar 6 string lap steel that has a dobro simulator built into the body. It runs off of a 9 volt battery & has a switch to turn on/off the dobro effect. _________________ Sho-Bud: Professional & Fingertip |

If the constructor of The Marrs instruments has
moved up from Cat Cans, does that mean he´s doing
well enough to afford a proper meal nowadays?McUtsi |
