Ok, I have yet another problem. I added a KL to my old Crossover. The E-raise works and always has worked fine. However the E-lower will work on the 8th string perfectly and leave the 4th string 20 cents sharp. I have done all I know to do. I adjusted the excursion of the lever to max, no help. No adjustment of the lever or barrel will make it lower any more than 20 cents sharp of Eb. Is there a spring issue that would cause this? A gunked up changer, a horrible and cruel master of irony that wants to see me crack? I just want to play this guitar. All other tuning problems are solved and it really is playing pretty well. Help!!! _________________ RICK ABBOTT

Sounds to me like the raise section is moving slightly when trying to lower.
upsidedown; lower that finger and see if that raise section is moving towards the inside somewhat??
If so; there are several things.
Take the raise spring off that finger if there is one.
The raise section could possibly be engaged a tad. Loosen(counter clockwise); the rod for the full tone raise and the half tone raise....and if the open string goes flat at all....than that was the issue. To eliminate that issue....you need more distance to the stops on the raises.
Ok get to work; and yell back at what is going on if you find any of that.

Ricky Davis, you sir are correct, as usual. The first sentence was it. I removed the spring, retuned the E-raise (it was pulling flat) and checked the E-lower, perfect. The C pedal was not affected at all. How come I can remove that spring and the changer will still work correctly? Or is it a flaw that has a positive side-effect?
I can't thank you enough. _________________ RICK ABBOTT

Well if there is any amount of grit/gunk; really anything inhibiting the pivots the raise section will move; especially if there is a raise spring on it; because the whole assembly wants to move that way towards the inside anyway.
Also; because of the pivot points of these old changers; it can be common. There are other factors too...but I'm glad that worked out for ya....we'll take it one issue at a time.

A general rule that has been followed on most PSG's since way back when has been, if a string is both Raised on one pedal and Lowered on another, the helper-spring should be removed. In fact, on more modern PSG's helper-springs are not used at all, anymore! It would be adviseable for anyone to remove all helper-springs from PSG Raises. They are just unnecessary! _________________ <marquee> Go~Daddy~Go, (No), Go, It's your Break Time</marquee> L8R, jb
