That's odd, Jack; mine is an '06 (or '07 - I'm not certain), yet it only has a three-digit # (422).

Yep should be a 3 digit # like 123

Although I know of two that have the same serial # I used to own both of them.

Mine has the number (422) stamped in one of the end-plates, but there are no other figures anywhere near it that could get mixed up with it (if you know what I mean!) This is my first Derby, so I have no idea if there is a different sequence for D-10s. Yours is an SD-10, though; hmmm!

I'll be interested to know what you find when you check it for yourself.

I'd like to know when mine was built also. It's SN 443. I got it this year, but I'm not the original owner.

About how many was Charlie building a year, the last few years?

Far as I know there were no differences in the serial #'s from SD-10 or D-10. #362 was built Dec 05. Charlie just numbered them as he built them. No date code, no certain # for a certain year. He just numbered them as he went.. I sure do miss that man. Just knowing he's not here makes me hang my head !

I used my SD-10 on the road and as my primary studio guitar. Theres just something about the way it RECORDS I cant explain... Its great !!!

Ha! No Lee, you've seen and played this guitar, played it the last time you were over. You gave a very nice compliment on the tone. The picture is deceiving, it's much darker unless light is shining on it, maybe why you didn't recognize it. Or could be 'cause you're just getting old. Smile

Have one more pic, may as well show it off.

Tommy; Curious about your S/N Derby being built in Dec. ’05, because; I know for a fact that my D-10 Custom-Ordered (Burgundy) Derby has the S/N 401 and I picked it up at the shop Dec. 14/16 ’05! A friend, here in the Nashville area has D-10 S/N 402.

Wow! That lacquer Derby is lovely! I'm going to get a D-10 to add to my stable when circumstances ($$$!) permit, but now I think I want one of those!

Hi Lee, and thanks for the compliment. I remember you wanting to buy it when Steve put it up for sale a couple of years ago. It's my first and only lacquer guitar and don't think I've put one mark on it, not yet anyway.

thats strange i wonder if the end plate has maybe been changed out ,i have had a total of 7 Derby's including #102 that was i think an early or mid 90's,and none of them has ever had anything but a three digit number on them.

lee: i don't think the endplate has been changed, maybe charlie dated this one for a reason, and maybe the 6/digit number could have been an invoice number. and the ...2.1.99..could be the date. ....thanks jack
