Hi Guy's, seen this guy playing what I thought was a dobro behind the steel, but when the camers zoomed in, it was a unit fitted over the back neck of the steel, called a MARRS, then he removed it to play the steel.
Anyone know anything about this instrument, are they still being made, and has anyone tried one.Slim. |

Gary Morse played a cat-can when he started touring with Dierks Bentley. When Dierks and his band were playin' on the CMT Awards pre-show in 2004, Gary was playin' a cat-can on Dierks' first single "What Was I Thinkin'". Gary used the cat-can guitar as an alternative to the dobro, but he sure could make some great dobro and lap steel sounds on the Cat-Can.

Hi Derrick, I have an 8 string Marrs/Fluger Catcan -- it's a Dobro simulator, and you can tune it just like a dobro. you can also throw a switch and use it as a lap steel as well - very handy machine, I just plonk it up on top of the C6th neck on my Zum, the bottom of it is covered in a soft felt material so it doesn't scratch anything, and you can play it LOUD !! without any feedback issues.
Mine is black with a black and white Shobud fretboard.
