Is the Korg DTR 1000 a good tuner for steel? Are there better rack tuners in the same price range? $140-$160 I'd like to have the peterson rack tuner, but can't, and ain't
goin to pay $360 for one.

Terry, i understand you want a rack tuner
i had a korg dtr1 & it served me well
nervertheless, i went over to the peterson since it had those steel tuning presets
may i suggest that you go for a peterson stroboflip in the meantime until you're ready for the rack unit
you can always sell the strobo flip to a fo'bro |

I have a korg 2000 tuner and i wouldn't trade it for a strobe tuner. I like my rack tuner. Just my opinion. Mileage may vary. |

Thanks for your opinion Jimmy. I welcome all opinions.
CrowBear, I have a stroboflip, but I just got a Lexicon 110 and an SKB 3 space rack case to put it in. It looks kinda naked with just the MPX 110 in it But, I hadn't thought about losin the steel, guitar, and dobro presets with the Peterson. I think you are right, I can sell my Strobflip, and I have a Baggs para coustic DI I could sell and wouldn't like a whole lot havin enough to get the peterson rack tuner. Maybe I can find a scratch & dent on Musicians Friend.

Terry...I believe that is the problem. It takes three AA batteries... Oops, sorry Terry, you removed the question while I was typing my reply.

Terry I'm with Crowbear on this one ...I used to have (still do actually) a Korg DTR1000 in my rack which was fine, but real difficult doing offsets etc ... I went to the Stroborack from Peterson and it's light years ahead mate !! _________________ 14'Zumsteel Hybrid D10 9+9

Terry,
You could get a piece of diamondplate alum and put all your plugins on top where they are easier to access, also I have my tuning settings on a card, taped there for reference.....Bill

Bill,
I emailed you about your rack. Could you us how you have it wired? Great job!

The wiring is from the plug in connection on the components to female 1/4" jacks on top, there is a power strip inside wired to a socket that I pirated from a computer power supply, using the power cord from same to supply power to the rack. When it's time to pack and go, all plugins are under cover, protected from bumps, scrapes, and dirt. Also, I don't remember if it was my idea, or I saw it somewhere, I printed out (vp in..etc) and put it under clear srinkwrap to ID where it plugs in far enough from the end to have room for future repairs. This makes it easier to sort, and plug everything up. Plugins on the rack are also marked so my roadie (LOL) doesn't get confused setting everything up.I'll try to post a better pic of the top later this week.
