I am using my Dell Laptop for presentations at church. I am running out my S-video output, to two televisions. One is a newer Flat Screen TV, and the other is an older set with NO S video input. Best i can do on that one is an RCA video input. So i thought why not just go RCA on both sets for the presentation? So i went out and purchased this little splitter from Radio Shack $9.95.

My lappy just hated it. The screen went totally black, and the TV's started rolling like a bad vertical hold. Bad Idea!

So i tried to return the splitter, and the guy at Radio Shack was such an idiot about it, i told him nevermind, i will pray for him. Frustrated, i finally asked my friend george for some help. He gave me this S-Video Y splitter and two of these 50Ft S Video cables. Along with a small black S Video to RCA adapter.

My question is, won't one side be the same as i had before? going from the S video to a little black adapter to the RCA input? Does the little black adapter have a transformer or something in it? I didn't want to sound stupid in front of him, but not sure how to connect this? Any help is appreciated. Cass

The way i have worked around this before is go straight from the laptop s-video to one tv and out of that tv to the other. That of course only works if the tv with the s-video in has a rgb out.

Thank you John for your helpful suggestion. Forum member George Redmon gave me this converter box, and even went down to the church with me and showed me how to hook it up for sunday mornings.

By the way, george took that Y splitter i purchased from radio shack, and returned it and got me my money back. I asked him how he could get a refund when i couldn't. He never answered me. Thank you george for all your help. Cass
