Recently I ran into a well known picker who did the Cal-Nashville scene..I consider this a serious subject although I can't resist another poke at old Smiles..(lord knows he's got me enough times) Rolling Eyes .I heard that Crime is down in Hendersonville because of Smileys day job. Laughing
And for his third job people at Disney are drawing fans from all over the world..
Its tough to be famous.. Laughing Better off steelin.. Winking

I sort of made a joke out of what I was asking. My intent for the post was serious tho. I recently ran into a pretty well known musician who was working for a wrecker company. Sad .Actually he responded to a breakdown call I made when I hit an object on the interstate 75 and blew two tires (front and rear) on the drivers side..It took more than an hour for him to hook me up and tow me but most of it was us talking music..I've known many full time players in my time who I'm sure by now have to suppliment their incomes..And with the music biz being what it is now I'm certain many can't depend on playing out to make a living anymore.Sad times makes me appreciate what was our time a lot more.

I suppose I supplement my income by playing jobs I don't particularly care to do. I've been in the orchestra pit for 'Showboat', 'The Boyfriend', 'Cabaret', 'Mame', 'Bye, Bye, Birdie', 'Cats' and many more in the last few years. It would be nice to make enough to keep us afloat from just steel-guitar and 'Telecaster gigs' (you know what I mean!), but reality is another matter.

Every time I go into Walmart I try to picture myself in one of those 'greeter' outfits...... Whoa!

Not yet, happily - not yet!
