I spent a very interesting Thursday afternoon at Dave's house in Okeechobee. Dave had agreed to switch some pulls on my newly-acquired Derby SD-10.
Dave - it's playing very nicely, thanks! I know you'd have liked to spend more time on it, getting everything pulling straight and taking up some slack here and there, but you did everything I needed doing for now, and it's definitely 'gig-ready'!
I know Bo and a couple of other guys insisted that tinkering under a Derby was simplicity itself, but I needed someone to demonstrate. After watching Dave, I think I could tackle it myself now.
Thanks, Dave - you did a great job in double-quick time. I'm very grateful. _________________ Roger Rettig: Emmons D10, B-bender Teles, Martins, and a Gibson Super 400!

Thanks Roger - How is that B-A drop working? I just noticed that JayDee uses that - maybe we need to add a 4th pedal LOL! Regards, Dave |

The B down to A on string 10 is very solid - I haven't yet integrated it into my playing, but time will tell if I want to keep it. Just noodling around on the bottom five strings reveals any number of possible uses, and it's so good to get that extra depth on E9.
I must say that this Derby is an extremely gratifying guitar to play - I love its tone, and I'm surprised to find myself saying that it's a bit more responsive than my beloved Emmons LG111 D-10. Now I wish I had a Derby D-10!
Yes - I'd like a fourth pedal for the Isaacs change. One of these days, eh?

Hi Roger
If your guitar will allow it on the lower B down to A, flatten it another semi-tone and play strings 10,7,5. and then tell me you don't love that chord ! they are the same notes as 7,6,5. but that inversion sounds so cool.
