I am trying to find a steel player that used to play with Jack Cotton and the Southern Connection back in the mid to late 70's. I can't remember his name but he gave me my first steel seat and inspired me alot. The Band members I can remember are Jack Cotton, Denny Andrietta. I knoe that Denny went on to play steel and Jack Cotton went on to play Bass for Eddie Raven. If any one has any info these people I would appreciate it. The Band played alot in Tinley Park, ILL
Thanks

Howard -
Could it have been me, as I worked
with Jack from around ~'74 until we
both got off the road with Billy Walker
around ~'76 or so. Before that, Larry
Marvel was on Jacks band, when they
were around the Cal City area. I'm not
sure who mighta followed me with Jack
before Jack went on Ravens band. I'm
thinkin' Jack called his band 'The Real
Thing', after the title of one of his records.

It could have been, I am not really sure. I know that before you or whoever it was they had a steel player that was an albino and he went on to nashville and I forget who he was playing for. They had an older gentalman playing fiddle and denny on lead and I do know the steel player had not been playing very long. They played alot at the horseshoe in tinley park quite a bit. I still have a tape recording from them playing there as Jack Cotton and the Southern Connection. After Jack went to Nashville and stared with Eddie Ravens band I went out to his house a few times and he took me on Eddies bus. I heard from Denny a few years back and found he had started playing steel, but then I don't know what happened to him. Also I never heard from Jack any more. I used to sit in the audience and Jack would make fun of me when we were recording because he knew my wife would here the tape. |
