I understood it was happening this year. I could be wrong. I didn't mean this to be negetive I just know there is a lot involved in putting on a show of this size, and we're about to run out of year.

I remember reading one of Bobbe's delirious posts that this event was never meant to happen this year. It was and is projected for 2002 so Bill is probably right on his date.

Yep, You guys really seem to care so I'm gonna tell ya! The whole deal was set up for the fair grounds until some politition in town stopped it because it looked to him like a Woodstock deal and Nashville didn't need a"bunch of crazy musicians" tearing up the fairgrounds and the town. In my protesting this decision,and trying to explain the maturity of steel players,country music, and what steel was all about,(he didn't know what a steel was), he saw the famous steel guitar appearance on the Conan O'Brian show, called me the next day and asked if that was "steel guitar".?
Very proudly ,I replyed , Yes! Isn't it great? His reply won't be repeated here. And this great show will be held in May at a very big Nashville hotel,inside, air conditioned,great food, and walking distance from your rooms.
AND----- Robert Randolph Is going to be there, with Lloyd,many great seldom heard along with famous TN.and TX players----- AND greats from other places! Stay tuned,(The great Jeff Coffel may play!)

Hey Bobbe;

Our annual Gospel Steel Guitar show is in INDY on the 3rd and 4th of May next year (the first Friday and Saturday). I hope it will be on a different weekend as some of the Tenn and Tex players also come to our show each year. I wish you the best on putting this together.

Doug,Thank you for your wonderful response and understanding. I'm learning just what you guys have to go through in putting on one of these events. I remember you booking me in your gospel show several years ago, and me not being able to do it because of extremly pressing business in Nashville. I hated very badly to have to cancel out. With much respect, I wish you the very greatest continued success in your wonderful gospel steel guitar show. Anything we can do, let us know.

What in the world does this so-called politician think "Fan-Fair" is....?????

We have a "Computer Show out at the Fair Grounds about 3 or 4 times a year. Did this politician feel that "a bunch crazy computer geeks tearing up the fairgrounds and the town" is any lesser than the Steel Community attempts to secure the fairgrounds for an event ??

This is a big part of whats wrong with "Nashville" now ..... We got stupid people in places of power who don't have a clue as to what's happining !!!

Dosen't this Politician understand that this event will bring in tourist and MONEY into the coffers of Nashville ???? He MUST be workin' with Gaylord & CO. They all seem to be hell-bent on riddin' Nashburg of all music of any kind.

Maby if the Steel Guitar was shaped like a football or Shoppin' Mall,their brain could see beyond the end of $1500.00 Statiumn seat !

Boy...... It just amazes me how well the "Great Minds of Politicians" work .

I guess "The Politician" conveniently forgets the Fairgrounds were home to Fan Fair for many years, and the "crazed musicians, artists and fans" who were a major source of revenue to the hotels, restaurants and other service industries in Nashville.

Bill, Mike and all, wouldn't it be funny if we had to move it to another town, like Bowling Green or something? You know, some where where they liked country music?
