Consider a fantasy world where p/p guitars were no longer available.
Which guitar/pickup combinations would satisfy you p/p enthusiasts?

This is reality to some of us.
Northern Sweden IS a world without p/p! In fact, most of scandinavia is, so i speak from experience 
A Emmons SKH Legrande took care of that problem. I alter between the original single coil, a Truetone and a GL PF2. They all sound fine to me, but i favour the PF2.

My Derby w/10-1 has that magical sound on certain tunes, such as: “I Just Destroyed The World”! I attribute some of that to the Emmons’ choice of harmony-notes, not to take anything away from Derby Guitars!

I have a p/p, but I'm certainly not "hung up" on it. Mostly, I've played MSA's, but I'm not "hung up" on them either. My next pick would likely be a Fulawka or a Sho~Bud, or maybe even an old Fender. No guitar is "magic", and each one has their own advantages and disadvantages, their own assets and drawbacks. Shucks, Buddy originated the Emmons p/p, but even he doesn't seem to be "hung up" on them, as he plays and enjoys other guitars, as well.
And that really bothers some players. 
"Fanatics" might do well to keep in mind that no matter what brand they play, like, enjoy, love, worship, pray to, or sleep with and kiss goodnight...that the majority of players out there play something else.
Open your eyes and ears. There's a lot of alternatives out there. |

Well for one thing, if there were no p/p's, probably 95% of today's working pros and I'll guess (pretty sure) every living SGHOF member would still be playing the guitar he plays today. Hmmmm, maybe there may be a message for us less advanced players in there??????

| If I didn't know better I would argue with most anyone that the Emmons Christmas album was a P/P. As Mike Cass notes in the currently active post on EMCI, that guitar was a EMCI with an early version of the E-66 pickups so I guess that would have to be my vote!! |
