The Texas Playboys will be taking the stage in Tulsa OK., at historic Cain's Ballroom March 7, in honor of Bob Wills 104th birthday. Tommy Alsup, Leon Rausch, and Bobby Koeffer among others will be there. Our band gets to open for them! What an honor! Show starts at 6:30pm.

John, I grew up in Tulsa and I recall the Cain's Ballroom. Johnnie Lee Wills' band was regularly booked there. I was about 12 and my grandfather's serice station/appliance store sponsored Johnnie Lee's saturday t.v. show. They competed with the Cimmeron Ballroom and Leon McCauliffe. This would have been about 1950. |

Last night was a "night of nights". Western Swing is very much alive and well here in "T-Town". Oklahoma Stomp opened for the Round Up Boys, they opened for The Texas Playboys. Wall to wall people. I haven't seen crowds in Cain's like that since George Jones and Ernest Tubb played there in the late 60's and 70's. They were bringing out chairs for folks and it was still standing room only! One of THE BEST crowds at Cain's in years! It sent a strong message to "the powers that be"! We'll be back next year!
