I'm not trying to steer folks away from our forum amp section, but if you are in the market for a new amp, Fender has dropped the price of many of its amps including the Champ and the Steel King. The price drop is significant.

Price drops as compared to what? Just using the SK as an example - they were up to about $1180 at the big-box stores after a large price increase earlier this year, and now they're about $1000 - that's directly from the big-box store websites. I believe these are MAP (Min Advertised Price), which is set by Fender. I see them on the forum routinely for $500-600 US.

and so on. I haven't noticed one of these sell for more than $600 used for a while now, and some of those recent sales were in the $500-550 range. My recollection is that a couple of years ago, even new examples were less than a grand, but that's from memory.

I'm not trying to be argumentative, but when discussing price comparisons, I like to see specifics. With this type of data, I think I'd be inclined to stick to the forum, thanks.

These are my interpretations and opinions, naturally.

I have been lusting after a Blues Deluxe, and have been wistfully following the prices. Last year, up to about March this year, most of the online stores had them advertised for about $700. Approximately April they were listed at about $900. On the FDP forum this was discussed, and someone put forth the idea that FMIC had made all the dealers post the higher price, so that the small local dealer could make the buyer a better deal. Currently I've found advertised pricing around $750. At least at MF and AMS, they are promoting the lower pricing.

Hi Dave,
I was just pointing out that the price of some amps dropped in price.

Fo example, when the Champ came out it was $195, then went up to $250 and now is sold for $150.

I wasn't trying to infer anything about used prices, good deals, or the value of a used amp.

I just wanted to let folks know if they were looking for a new Fender, some models have dropped in price from what they were last week.

Sorry for the confusion.

Dave; You point about lower-prices on NEW Fender Amplifiers is well taken, because; when it comes to Amps. I always buy “NEW”! It's a matter of trust, when it comes to used and moded equipment for me!
