Don't hesitate to give Gary Carpenter a call if you have any questions. I just bought an SD-10 from him in January. I sent an inquiry by email and he called me that same day and we talked for over an hour. I then went to his shop in Fort Worth and talked for another hour or two. Here is the website for Rains http://www.rainssteelguitars.com/ I'm just getting started with steel guitar so I can't comment too much on anything other than customer service that was first class. He's also got two guys that work for/with him the steeler for Eleven Hundred Springs and also the steeler for Gene Watson. Check out Eleven Hundred Springs for some killer music.
I got deployed shortly after buying my Rains SD-10 so I can't wait to get home to start playing.

I ran to Gary in of all places Win-Star Casino on the Oklahoma/Texas border, watching a friend of mine play the slots (yes I had lost all my money) and look up and there's Gary I'm only about 15 minutes from the shop. He told me about his new starter steel and was very excited about it, and I know if Gary is excited it's something special. And I can guarantee that if Gary Carpenter makes them they are top notch. Congratulations Gary on yet another winner in the steel guitar industry. I'll just bet that if you want to start playing steel, this is the guitar for you, and I'll also guarantee that any guitar made by Gary will be stood by 100%.

Hey Guys,

The body is an all-aluminum body. Not cast. And yes the neck is wood. Pretty amazing sound, this axe packs a punch. Triple raise and Triple lower changer.

This guitar can be set-up to your specs. We can also add a vertical lever.

Single 10 with 3+4 - 21 LBS
34 LBS in the case

Danny

I have played on several in the shop and they are tremendous sounding steels. Good luck to Gary on this venture.
