Country vocalist in search of country band in the Rochester, NY area.

Moving there on September 1, 2001.

Please spread the word...
(i do play a little steel too!)
Besides this posting, how else can I find potential bands and/or musicians looking to jam?

Thanks,
Dennis DeSanctis

You might keep an eye on the new OnlineSteelers.com directory, located here for now:

http://209.41.162.249

and check for folks in the Rochester, NY area to contact (they may have ideas and leads for you).

Also, Dennis, you may wish to register yourself on the Directory once you move to Rochester, NY, so anyone looking there for a steel player can find your name.

...make yourself known in the music stores, look for "open mike" nights around the area, check out the people and introduce yourself, do a couple numbers yourself...

Thanks for the reply guys, great help.

Just trying to keep this thread running, I'd like to sing once or twice a week to make some $ towards rent.
I would also be interested in starting a band from scratch, so if you're interested let me know...I think I can sing very well.
Let's jam Rochester.
(please reply)

Hi Dennis, I'm replying from Rochester where we just did a really nice outdoor gig. The downtown park is called Manhattan Square. Apparently there is some kind of live music there off and on all through the warm months. From the number of musicians I met today I'd say going down there for a show might be a great place to meet some local pickers. And it's a great place to hear music. Looks like they've had a number of really good bands there lately. Take care and good luck...

Hey Dennis,
Email me when you get to town and I'll introduce you around.

I am about 10-15 miles west of Rochester and am working most of the time picking in and around town.

There's certainly a gig around for someone with an open mind as to the type of music you are going to play (keep the mind open and the opportunities are abundant)

Looking forward to chatting with you when you get in town. Always looking forward to meeting new musicians.

Cheers and Best Regards,
kk
