Are there any Fender String Master clones available? I would like to like to check out what is available. Have not ventured into non pedal steels but I am interested.
Thanks,
Lenny |

Len, Canopus (new Japan) is one that does their style, as well as Herb Remmington. Check out the recent GuyaTone (vintage Japan) threads. Elva West at elvawest@hotmail.com makes fine steels in that style too.
Maybe somebody can provide the links to these sites... |

I found Elva West's site at
www.tradewindsteelguitars.com
Trade Wind Custom Guitars
E. M. West - Proprietor
Not much info on the site, but the pictures sure look good.

I own this Tradewind D-8. It's a very nice guitar, very high quality work on the metal parts.

I wonder about Elva West's tuning pans.
Maybe they can be used as replacements for stringmasters.

Elva has come a long way over the years since I purchased some of his earlier models. These new models look to be very impressive. Elva is a straight shooter...he stands behind his product.
I also own a Canopus D-8...(much more costlier than the Tradewind). Comparing it to my Fender T-8 Custom,
the Canopus leaves little to be desired...it's a great guitar ! |
