Howard,

That looks like a real HAWAIIAN PARTY at Rick A's House.

Wow, the Moonlighters with Mike Neer and my old friend, Bill Smiedlin singing the "Hawaiian War Chant." Cool Cool What more could you ask for.
Well, maybe Howard R playing and singing a tune. Winking

I could see Bill Smiedlin's JB Frypan on the floor next to Mike N. I'll bet Bill really WOWed them too with his steel guitar playing.

We really miss Bill at the Hawaiian steel guitar conventions. He is a great steel guitar player as all of you at the Party would have known.

Aloha, Smile
Don

What a thrill to have Bill there, and he was thrilled to perform with The Moonlighters. He has a lot of history under his belt and it was wonderful to hear his stories.

It was pretty much a Hawaiian party....we didn't have a roasted pig, but Harry brought a baloney the size of a Buick, so I guess we did alright.... Whoa!

WOW ! So great to see my old friend Bill Schmiedlin as active as he appeared to be on that video...I only wish the camera man could have taken a few shots of him down at the floor level rather than from the balcony. I have very fond memories of Bill as I accompanied him on r/guitar many times while he blew everyone away with his great steel work and his most 'famous' song, "A'e Kakou". If the person who did the video at this Moonlighters event happened to also video Bill playing his JB Frypan, we'd sure love to see that ! Very Happy Very Happy

That is true, but my favorite Bill Schmiedlin selection of all time was his beautiful expressive playing of the Sol Ho'opii song, "A Flower Lei." He also sang it.

Ok, Rick an Howard, did he play that song there?

If so, everybody would have quickly developed "chicken skin."

Aloha, Smile

Howard, that's Kuu Ipo.

Boy, it's bittersweet watching those, but when I saw the apple of my eye doing the hula, it immediately brightened my day; that and Bill Schmiedlin.

Spirits were flowing, to put it mildly....

Beautiful steel work Mike and your rhythm section is superb also. Not wishing to be critical, (only desiring to offer a constructive suggestion), the lovely "hula" dancer has very graceful moves, however she is not interpreting the lyrics as she should be doing. I suspect she might be your daughter and certainly possesses a lot of talent...please do her a great favor...guide her to a Kumu Hula for proper instruction. Waving her hands and arms about and shaking hips as she is doing are not telling the story.

As mentioned, the title of the song is "Ku'u I'po" meaning, "My Sweetheart"....(Pronounced: "Koo-oo Ee-po"). You have such a tremendous group...if I lived anywhere near your area, I'd be there to see The Moonlighters performing every nite! Very Happy
