Last September I bought a 1980 Black Emmons' P/P that was for sale on this forum.

I bought it on a whim. I played it once. I am getting rid of everything I own (in the musical sense) except 1 guitar and 1 amp, which I doubt seriously I will ever play again.

The Emmons is in very good condition. And it has "that" sound. It is 8 and 4.

Since I no longer have a digital camera I have no pictures. But if you click on the following link you will see a bunch of them.

Hi James,

Thanks for your concern dear friend.

I am ok as far as ok is concerned. The loss of my wife last August has become unbelievably hard. In a word, my heart is not in it any more. I am sure that in time, that will change, but for now......

And Yes, I received my new Excel Superb S-12 last September. The bad news is, I failed to convey accurately what I wanted Mitsuo to do when he built the guitar. Through NO fault of his, my heart broke when it came.

The Good news is: Fellow forumite J D Sauser was looking for an Excel, and he bought it. I met with Mitsuo in person at length (last weekend at the Gulfport, MS show). He now knows what I wanted, so he is going to build me a new one.

JD received mine day before yesterday.

But ya know, my heart is not in it now. Hopefully one day, I will have a renewed interest in music and the steel guitar, But for now......

Thanks again for asking. May Jesus bless you friend,

carl

Carl,
I will pray for you my friend .....You of all people know that God can see you through things that you think are impossible ...With him all things are possible !!
I've been battling on again / off again Cancer and it has not been easy on me to deal with, but I know that I have God on my side battling with me ....You have God on your side too my friend ....Let Mitsuo build you a new steel to your specifications ...I know it's hard conveying what you want to him sometimes, but he's a good guy, and a great craftsman and he will build what you are looking for in the end !!.... Again, I am sorry for the loss of your dear wife, but you can be comforted in the fact that she is with her maker now , and suffers no more from worldly pain ....Rest easy my friend .... Things will get better for you....I have faith that everything will work out for you in time ....Sincerely, Jim

Carl I am so sorry. The stress of caring for my wife has deminished my desire for the last two years. Yesterday was the first day that she took a shower on her own, so maybe I can get going again. There is nothing more stressful to me that a problem with my wife. At least I've been in good health to take care of her myself.

My sincere heartfelt thanks to all who have expressed their love and concern.

Hazel was a very special person. Far greater than I EVER deserved. I did not fulfill my responsibilities as a husband. I am not proud of it. Just stating a fact. And the reality and realization of that is what is causing the MOST pain.

So it is going to take a very long time (if ever). Jesus said, "I will not tax you beyond that which ye can stand". But considering the story of Job, God WILL tax us up to that point. So be it. And I deserve it like few others.

But thanks again soo much. Means a lot.

Incidently, the guitar may be sold. I have given a player (on his word), a 48 hour "Hold it period" for him, to decide. If he does buy it, I am grateful. If not, that is ok too. The guitar is one of the nicest I have seen, considering its age. And thanks to all who have enquired about it by phone and email.

And Bobby, you could not have been kinder, but since I am not playing at all now, I will respectfully decline your loving offer, dear brother.

carl

Carl, I'm sure nothing could every replace Hazel for you and that you are probably dealing with the shock of it all, which often incapacitates & depresses a person. I hope you will eventully go back to playing steel, which was a big part of your life and has the potential to ease the pain you are experiencing. Also hope there are loved ones nearby who will help you.

I too always enjoyed your posts and thank you for the time you put in to help us learn more. Do remember that many of us are thinking of you and pulling for you in this troubled time. All the best, steve t

It does appear the guitar is sold. Out of courtesy to the buyer, I have extended a 30 day period for him to come up with the money.

I have no problem with this.

But during this "30 day" period, any others who may wish to buy it, I will put in a waiting list (first come, first served), IF per chance the buyer is not able to get the money by the end of the grace period.

May Jesus bless you all,

carl
