When Paul A. made mine, he said it was his third.
He further stated he'd NEVER make another.
One of the quads had NO PEDALS.
Another......I believe, had three pedals?
Mine, of course, has six. |

Six pedals on a four-necked instrument doesn't seem excessive. You would expect at least three pedals on a single-necked PSG, so that would equate to twelve on a four-necked instrument, (assuming you wanted pedals on every neck, which I don't think is necessary.) |

the tunings ray uses work out with that number of pedals so even six is enough but if it was ten strings per neck then you might see 12 pedals DANIEL M. |

Bigsby pedal steel guitar quality is NOT measured by the number of pedals it has total or per neck. It's not an RV-trailer or ski-boat where another foot in length gives somebody an edge over someone else.
With the BIGSBY steel guitar, Paul would install whatever pedal you wanted, where ever YOU wanted it placed.
You appear to be fixated on "HOW MANY", etc. Figure out what kind of music/sound you want to produce in your particular playing style and have Todd Clinesmith make you one to your specific order.
If you were to sit down and attempt to play a dozen different Bigsbys at this day and age, I'm afraid you'd be totally confused since it's highly likely that no two would end up being strung up the same, unlike many of today's standard 8+4 systems.
Times a wasting my good friend. Get you a guitar and start playing. Talking about it isn't going to get you anywhere. Anyway, you ain't getting any younger. |
