I love the design and sound of the old National Guitars, so I decided to make a couple for myself. This is the first of them, a National Dynamic Replica, next will be a New Yorker Replica. I will get a sound file up as soon as I can to let you hear.

That looks amazingly like a brand new National Dynamic! The only things missing are the National logo, plastic cover over the pickup, volume and tone controls. What type of pickup did you use?
Here's a 1950 National Dynamic from Elderly Instruments' web site for comparison. _________________ Brad’s Page of Steel

Hello Guys,
I will fit a white cover over the Pickup. I could have fitted Tone and Volume knobs, but I don't see the use for them today, I never use them on the old Teisco.
I designed the 23 inch scale fretboard on the Computer and printed it out on photo paper, laid it flat on the neck and placed a Lucite/Perspex sheet over that to protect it.
I have started a New Yorker and the Fingerboard is made the same way only with Roman Numeral Markers.
I used a Wilkinson Humbucker from Fleabay, I got a pair for £10, they sound sensational. I also have a pair of Teisco Pickups and a Lace Alumitone to experiment with. They all came from the same place.

James, I'd suggest a black cover such as found on Jim Konrad's Dynamic pictured above. Black just looks better to me.
Congratulations on such a good job. I look forward to hearing how it sounds. _________________ Brad’s Page of Steel

Brad,
I have pieces of Black and White Perspex, I will make one of each and change with the mood.

That is excellent James!
If it sounds as good as it looks, you have a winner.
So - a pair for £10, isn't that about $14.28?
$7.14 each?? ![](http://jodycarver.com/gifs/cowboyshocked.gif) _________________

Very nice job, James!
I too like the looks of the National Dynamics. A few years ago I found an old 1951 Dynamic body and fingerboard, but nothing else was on it. I made the control plates, headstock cover, bridge and hand rest/pickup cover. The metal accent pieces on the control plates and headstock cover are a homage to National's metal bodied guitars. I put in a early 60's tele bridge pickup at an angle and the pole spacing is perfect. When other people play this guitar it sounds good to me.
James, can't wait to see your next creations! |

Beautiful!
There is something about those old National designs that just seems to press the button. |

Here are the Pups I have to choose from on the guitars I'm building. 2 Teisco, 2 Wilkinson (one of which is fitted) and a Lace Alumitone. All bought cheap on Fleabay.
