Hold on to your chairs New Englanders. Bobbe Seymour will be playing at the Mass Steel Bash, July 15, in Lee MA.
Bobbe is a great player and he's well known for his "Travis picking" on pedal steel. I saw him play in a small club on "Printer's Alley" in Nashville about 20 years ago and I was amazed at his expert use of delay in speedpicking. And his tone was more than acceptable!

Glad to see Bobbe will be joining us. I only have two requests. First, don't make me follow him, and second, don't let him introduce me! As for his famous use of "delay" in speedpicking, well... I've delayed the use of speedpicking for almost 30 years now!

Looks like Im going to have the time of my life! Looking forward to seeing all you wild and crazy dudes!Iv'e not played in the north east in many years,I'm going to be showing all my tricks and will be showing Jim Coen ( or is it Chen?)How to get a KILLER tone. This will be a very informal show as I want to meet and talk to everyone personally.I will answer all questions(with the possible exception of my sex life or the lack there of.) I was there the next night and I must say Dianne Sherril was a whole lot prettier then you but you were great and I even got Smiley to pay the 3 bucks cover and the tab. Wow was that really 20 years ago...Looks like I'll have to make a concentrated effort to make this one Bill.

Joe Casey has indicated that he is contemplating doing what he does best. He is rallying with some old friends,and they have responded favorably to his request to join together in the south, before heading north in July to attend the 19th Massachusetts Steel Guitar Bash on July 15. Country Joe Casey is a true friend in steel guitar circles. He is known for vocalizing, and is proficient as a designated M.C. His recording of, "I'm Still In There Trying", is one that rates very well when someone tries to determine "Who's Who" in COUNTRY MUSIC. Bill Hankey |

Joe Casey is a big fan of the Ray Price shuffles. I miss hearing him sing such songs as: "The Other Woman", The Way To Survive", etc. His ability to sing the songs tastefully, is a real treat for those who regard country music as the utmost enjoyment within musical genres. Bill H. |

Aw shucks Bill you mean all the new Montgomery Gentry and Tim Magraw and JoDee Masina Cra--er stuff I spent 20 minutes learning I won't be able to do?  Actually when I work Steel shows I always realized who the people came to see, so whatever lets them show their stuff makes me sound good too. With Bobbe you are going to witness some styles that he originated as a do it all player. From his Studio work on many hit records,his many miles of traveling with the names of the business and to his many years of being one of the top rated players and to now the owner of one of the largest if not the largest retail Pedal Steel emporiums in the US oF A.So I am thrilled that you are setting me up with the best seat in the house. (I hope he brings up some of those Half priced Emmons records tho) Plus I can't wait to see Rouley again along with Jimmy Smith,Sammy(who the hell is ) Gibson,Dougie, Jerry Fessenden and unfortunatly the guy with the yellow shorts who I will have to spend many hours confined inside a cramped vehicle with,And Bill yourself Hankey .Not meaning to leave anyone out because you have a star studded lineup..I was hoping to see frankie Caruso who bent the elbow a couple of times in St. Louis with meself..At any price this is a trip I am looking forward too.My wife has graciously agreed to stay home with my 89 year old Father so I can make the trip....so line me up will you...Just kidding. |

Bobbe, As I am coming to Nashville, I will indeed make it a point to drop by your steel guitar emporium. Could you please do me a favor and set aside some of those 8 tracks, especially anything by "Sam the Sham and the Pharaohs?" However, it is so unfortunate there is no steel guitar, especially on "Woolly Bully!"
It seems that while I was hooking up my new spatial expander to my Tannoy's, my wife Paula, rummaging through my trash, came across an 8 track tape player that I was trying to discard. She brought it back into the house and said, "Look at this marvelous piece of NEW technology I found in your trash can!" So you can understand that I was elated that you are indeed having a sale on your cut-in-half, 8 tracks. With today's technology, perhaps I could superglue them together!!! I could also use at least 2 whole sets of those great used strings you have in stock (with minimal crimps, of course.) Earl P. Ball loves the tone I get with the ever so slightly rusted G-strings. Pete, I have a factory 8-trk in my imaculate 1977 Buick, Electra 225.It works great, just like the rest of the car, BUT, I need all the 8-trk tapes I can get,they are the only way I can get Jeannie to ride in it, and then only after dark. My Thunderbird is so old , it only plays 78's.( the Hupmobile only plays Edison cylinders,no "B" side here!) Love that Rudy Valley stuff!( he is the original Elvis you know!)
