...and have any interest in steel guitar, you absolutely have to go to Casey's Tavern in Canoga Park and hear Al Vescovo play. He plays jazz and swing with a small band (two horns and rhythm section) on Thursday nights, 1st set at 8:30.

If you don't know Al, you should...he plays a single 14 with a C6th copedant and is one of the tastier players out there. Al played in the studios and live shows for many years both on steel and guitar and his playing is impeccable.

Casey's is a great place to hear live music. Old time bar; Cheap liquor and cheaper women. The crowd is a combination of over 50s and over 30s with a few over 20s thrown in...everyone digging the music.

Great scene, great music and great steel playing.

Anthony

If the ITALIAN STALLION can't do it on steel, it can't be done! Wait 'til you hear his new BIG BAND STEEL!

Where did you get it? I had heard Al had a number of CDs out and was looking for ones that were more jazz oriented.

When it comes to jazz, Al is up there in the same league as Buddy Emmons, Doug Jernigan and Reece Anderson.

I feel very privileged to live in the same city as him be able to see him play as often as I wish.
