I have an Oahau Diana lap in excellent condition Tom Brumley gave me some years ago, but it needs refinishing. It has a sunburst finish with a plastic insert on the edges. The finish is lifting off, probably due to age (original tag is 1950). Will finish remover ruin the plastic? How do I proceed? Appreciate all the expert advice. Thanks.

Chuck, unless it was in bad condition, I'd leave the finish as is, especially since Tom had given it to you. It's got some of his battle scars on it--those are priceless. Seriously, you will damage the plastic if you use a stripper.

I am with Mr. Neer It has a relic finish by a pro: Tom Brumley and as he recently died, it means even more to leave it as is. My 2 cents.
