Not a lot of details yet, but there's going to be a benefit gig for him on July 15th at Trout's Club in Oildale, CA.
Gene was part of the Mosrite guitar company and integral part of Bakersfield's live, musical retail, and recording scene for many, many years.
I couldn't even begin to count all the people who he has backed or worked with over the years, Gene has cut surf instrumentals recorded with the Ventures and done a Ventures side project, he played a lot of those great guitar parts on Red Simpson albums and much more.
Apparently Gene was recently diagnosed with a terminal illness, i have this from a friend of his and as the tribute is coming up soon I thought I should post a message for anyone that can make it.
