I know that his real name is NOT Eddie Rivers. And you can also find him on Wayne Hancock's latest recording. _________________ Amor vincit omnia |

Eddie Rivers is his stage name. He is a native of Wisconsin and has been playing steel for 34 years. He moved to Austin,TX after Ray Benson invited him to join the band shortly after Jim Murphy's passing.
He auditioned for AATW once before when John Ely left the band and was accepted. He chose not take the offer being still married and had a decent day job and two children to raise.
Time changes everything. With some life changes and being close to retiring from his day job, he chose to take the offer the second time around.
Eddie has played in various bands in the Milwaukee area over the last 30 years. Some of the bands were
The Western Box Turtles, Ida Red, Beverly Jean & Out of the West, Radio Flyer and Lefty and the Honky Tonk Cowboys along with a whole truck load of others.
He also did a few jobs With Wayne Hancock in the Miwaukee, Madison and Chicago area before relocating to Austin. He did two CDs with Wayne Hancock -Swingtime and Tulsa.
He is an accomplished E-9th pedal steel player, a fantastic steel guitar teacher and a great friend. _________________ www.westernstarlanders.com |

I heard Willie doing a duet with a woman (not sure who) on "Sittin' On Top of the World" from this album on the radio tonight, and wondered who the Steeler was. I thought that it sounded like a "real deal" old-time "no-peddler." Very sweet... _________________ 1970 Marlen D-10, 1971 Professional, 1973 Pro II, 1977 Marlen D-10, 1978 Marlen D-10, 1980 Marlen D-10 |
