I want to tune my round neck reso, Jay Turser JT-900, to CEGBDF Using strings 13, 16, 18, 24, 30,36.

This model has a humbucker and a piezo pickups with a blend control to mix the pickups. I am using a nut riser and will play it like a lap steel.

Will these gauges bow the neck or cause any damage to the guitar?

Thanks for your help in this.

Dave

Based on what various manufacturers use for these same notes, your gauges look about right.

I doubt you'll have any structural issues using those gauges and tuning on that guitar. Let us know how it sounds!

Here are photos of the JT-900. It has a mini humbucker in the neck that is dark, muddy and a piezo under saddle that is thin and bright. With the blend knob you can adjust the sound to mix both pickups. With the CEGBDF tuning I can get a jazz box like sound that meets my needs with most of the signal coming from the neck pickup.

I use garage band to create drum tracks and send them to iTunes then to the ipod shuffle. The shuffle is played through the Roland RX bass amp. The drum tracks sound great through this amp. The guitar has a nut riser and is played like a lap steel. This amp and guitar combination is what I use to play background music while folks enjoy their meals at a local eatery.

This tuning is what I have been hearing in my head and I appreciate all the comments that said to find what you like to hear.

I will next set up my Rondo to this tuning.

I hope to order a Dynalap and set it up as a 7 string with ACEGBDF tuning.

Thanks again for all of the wisdom you folks share on the forum.[img][/img][img][/img]

I don't think I will be able to post photos. I can't seem to figure out why the photos are not be inserted after I upload them. Sorry.
