I didn't see it; it's been a long time since I was in a lodge, so maybe some things have changed. If I remember correctly, we don't put it in writing.

I apologize, I watched the thing on Barack Obama being a mason and the reference to the handshake; just getting old.

I met Howie Damron a few years ago when I worked for the US Forest Service. He was promoting Wheeling Sportsmen Events (National Wild Turkey Association) at the time. I had the opportunity to interview him for an article I was writing for a local publication about the Wheeling Sportsmen. He impressed me as a very nice gentleman.

(To stay on topic: My ex has been a mason for years and years.)

This is the wrong place for what I was saying, so I've deleted it. Sorry. "Off Topic" needs more contributions. Jump in and join the fun.

Very nice song, I'm passing it on to the secretary of my lodge. Thanks again for your contribution, Bro. Lee!

I don't know if our president is a Prince Hall Mason, but I'm sure of one thing. And that is, those folks putting up the anti-Masonic stuff on YouTube Have Absolutely No Idea What They're Talking About!

Dittos what Herb said. I can barely stand to watch some of that anti-Masonic propaganda. The stuff people come up with... Rolling Eyes Lots of fiction.

I believe the Masonic Order has made me a better man able to get along with others that I deal with on a daily basis...I was raised at Port Royal Lodge #242 South Carolina while still in the service....I met some of the best men in that community while stationed there and had some the best times as an adult I've ever had....I also went through the 32 degree and the hot sands at Hilton Head S.C. some of the most beautiful oratory and pageantry I've ever seen......

I don't pay much attention to those who try to discredit the Craft. It's like any subject;if you don't know what you're talking about,it's best to keep your pie hole shut. From my personal experience, most of these people have been rejected from some lodge because, after investigation, they were found to have serious moral or character flaws.Just my two cents.

When I attended lodge on Guam and then Moreno Valley in Sunnymead, Ca, I never heard any "anti-papist" statements. Some of the brothers were Catholic and kept their lodge afiliation secret or they would be ex-communicated; which I just couldn't understand. The one salient requirement is a belief in God. Ergo, men from different faiths may join after they meet certain requirements, like good moral character, good mental state, someone may correct me if I'm wrong here or have misspoke. If someone is an atheist, that's their business, but they are not going to change my religious beliefs, that I enjoy immensely, and frankly I'm not interested in that part of their life and I don't proselytize.

Played benefit for the Shriners last Sat. They do lots of good for the community. They treated our band well and we got free food. That's all I really know about them. JP

It might be worth while to add that at the turn of the century Masonic Lodges built state of the art opera houses in about every community where the Railroad passed through. Some of these still exist. Their contributions to the world of live music performance should not go unnoticed. These music halls provided a venue for much of early country music as well as Jazz and theatre. Don D.
