She did a nice job on "Big Log" on her brother Viktor's first CD a few years ago.

Viktor, among many other entries on his resume, is the long-time bass player for Lyle Lovett.

I recall hearing an interview with her years ago where she mentioned that one of her and Victor's guilty pleasures when they were younger was listening to 'classic rock' radio and especially paying attention - sometimes giggling and sometimes not - to many of the singers. (I seem to recall her saying that she always liked a good scream.)

Looks like she's found one of the most classic to do a project with. Like 'em or not, she nevers lacks for interesting ideas.

Here's a video interview with Alison, Robert, and producer T-Bone Burnett.

The CD was scheduled for release in late October.

That's now...

Edited to add:
Here it is:

You can hear some very pretty PSG by Greg Leisz on the sample of the "Killin The Blues"

I'm just thrilled that they cover TWO Gene Clark songs on this album. Not to mention Townes Van Zandt and the Everly Brothers.

way to go.

This CD is amazing. T bone Burnett brought some incredible talent to this production. Not only are the song choices perfect for these two singers but the recording is the most dynamic I have heard in many years (compression effectively under-utilized). There's even some tasteful steel in a couple of songs that sits in the mix where I like it! There is quite a bit of tremolo on the guitars in some tracks - an effect rarely used anymore and T Bone makes it work!

Robert and Allison sound great together. It's pure art and should be filed in the Gypsy-OldTyme-Rockabilly-Country-Bluegrass section of your favorite record store!

I love it.

The little I've heard from this project of their's is that it was a wise decision to record together, and the results seem to impress more than me.

The down side, doesn't look like ol' Percy is into the hoped for Zep revamp anymore. "Look, I don't know how old you are, pal, but you try singing Communication Breakdown in tight jeans".

Maybe Alison could hit those notes...

Most everything T-bone Burnett has been involved in I've liked a bunch. I agree with you Scott Murray about the Gene Clark songs. "Through The Morning Through The Night" and "Polly" are both two of my all time favorites.
