Here is a mid-'80s Fender Japan Stratocaster, 70s reissue. The serial number on the 3-bolt neck plate dates this guitar to '85-'86: A033645. The tuners and neck plate both say say "Fender Japan". There is a code stamped on the body where the neck bolts on. Not sure what that means. It's hard to find info on these guitars. If anyone has accurate info, it would be appreciated. As you can see in the pics, it's in pretty good shape with the usual wear and tear on a 23 year-old guitar. The body is a three-piece, although I don't know what type of wood. It has various nicks and other natural wear, but nothing serious. Naturally relic'ed, as they say. It's all original, to the best of my knowledge. The guy I bought it from told me it was an all-original 1985 model, but I don't know a whole lot about this era of Fender, so I can only say that it looks to be the real deal. I don't think the pickguard has ever been off it. I don't really want to go through the hassle of taking it off, but I will if need be. There is no back plate for the vibrato system, but the vibrato arm is included.
The guitar plays fabulous, and sounds amazing, just like an original '70s with a slightly narrower neck, which feels great. Frets are excellent. I just strung it with 10s. I would like to keep it, but I just bought a '72 Super Reverb and have to fund the purchase.
There is no case, but it will be packed well. I will take the neck off for safer transport, unless you prefer it shipped in one piece.
