Has anyone bought the Bass amp & speaker pack for a standard guitar xt (red kidney)? I got a Line6 email offering some stuff--I've already got some of the amp & fx packs. Just recently I was wishing for the ability to model some bass stuff. The bass pack tag is $99 so I'm not sure how interested I really am, my needs being more whim than need. It is news to me that you can load this into a guitar POD...I think that's what I discovered..... Could be a moot point if I'm wrong about that.
Has anybody done this?

I haven't done it because the price seems a bit steep. If they ever come up with a good Leslie cabinet emulation, I'll be tempted. Hard to compete with the Rotosphere, though.

I assume, from the description on the web site, that the packs add whatever amp/cabinet/speaker emulations to what is already in the device. They added some devices (e.g. the 15" speaker emulation) with one of the software updates to the unit two years ago.

I'm using the "Rotary Horn" emulation in my POD XT. I get people that will come up to the stage and wonder where the "organ" is, and our singer/bass player will ask me to use the "organ" on certain songs, so it must be doing a good job.

I have the POD X3 and X3 Pro, both of which come pre-loaded with all of the packs that you can add to the XT, including the bass pack. If you have a need, the bass amps and cabs are outstanding.

I used those models in the X3 for all but one track for my bass lines on "One Feather Shy" and am very pleased with the results. I also used the X3 for all of the electric guitar and lap steel tracks, as well.

What are your settings for you Rotary Horn patch, Jack? As much as I try, I can't get a good organ sound out of it.

Thanks for that info, Loren. For my needs, that $99 tag is tough to swallow but it is under consideration. I remember being very impressed by Line6's online demo of the black kidney bass pod. We'l see.

b0b---I've got several 'keeper' rotary patches.
A couple use the pre-amp, a couple use twin reverb and a couple use bassman. The twin I use for clean and hard. The tube pre and the bass man I use for different colors with a bit (or more) of grind. I use a fair amount of the global compression and on a couple of patches I add more compression from the stomp box models. I've experimented a bit with the bass overdrive stompbox---just a touch.
I also find that the ramp-up is too slow so when I really need one or the other (fast or slow) at any given time in a particualr song in the set I make sure to have consecutive rotary patches saved, identical except that one is slow, one is fast.
Since I use the POD A) because I like it and B) because it saves me the trouble of hauling an ever-growing pedalboard, I maybe would not have been able to settle for using it if I couldn't get happy with the Leslies---I too, totally dig my Rotosphere. Bottom line--I'm happy with it.

I'll gladly get more specific if you need.

My program is on my web site, with my other POD XT programs that can be downloaded. HERE

NOTE: I use the POD XT for effects only, live. I do use a program with preamp for recording but that's all.

Jack,

Is the Pod XT you use the rack mount pro or the "kidney" shaped unit?

Thanks,
George

The "kidney" model. But, the programs I have can be used on either one.
