While not being bone-idle,I have a way of doing
things ASAP OR putting the subject in line for any
length of time, the aforementioned Steeler´s Throne
is a case in point...which one would You recommend?
I´ve been sitting un-easy & un-pretty for well over
25 years...McUtsi |

Does anyone know why the Walker web site (which Crowbear linked to) has no links to any info? It's just a picture.

I got a top-of-the-line steeler's seat, but I mostly leave it at home. It didn't hold all the pedals and chords I need, so I still have to carry a gig bag full of stuff. The seat ended up being just one more heavey item to carry, and with sharp corners. Instead I carry an inexpensive, light, foldup keyboard bench. Occasionally I forget it, but there always seems to be some kind of chair I can use at the venue. |

I'd go for the Walker seat, I've had mine for over 5 years now and couldn't live without it.......JH in Va. _________________ Don't matter who's in Austin (or anywhere else) Ralph Mooney is still the king!!! |

It depends on the demands of the gig. I mostly use an old GFI seat. It is deep enough to hold most of what I need but legs are held on with flimsy hardware store c clamps and the latches are junk. They pop open and leave my gear scattered on a regular basis.
I have a beautiful steelers choice seat with a backrest and "sidecar"but it is too shallow to hold everything and is heavy and bulky. Its built like a rock. Its the best made most comfortable seat I have used. It generally stays home though. I will skip the backrest and sidecar on the next one. _________________ Bob |

For me without question,,,the Walker "Traveler". It's small, light weight (empty 9 pounds), extreemely strudy and very comfortable.
Thanks Ray Walker for "the answer".

ps: not meant to put down the other steel seats. They are good too. I've owned and used most of 'em. The Walker Traveler just suits my needs better. _________________ If you play 'em, play 'em good!

BOBBY, no need to apologize. This is still a free country and you can chose any steel guitar seat you want, except mine.

David, try using more diminshed chords; then they might all fit in the packaseat. _________________ www.JimCohen.com

...for Your views on he subject...there ARE things
to consider,I realize that now...You don´t need just
another piece of furniture to haul around, the
capacity/bulkiness-ratio has to be OK.McUtsi |

Yeah, Jimbeaux, it was those augmented cords that just wouldn't fit. I switched to demented ones, but things just got too crazy.
Actually, it was you who convinced me to get the big heavy seat. You said you got the one with the side car so in case you broke a string and had to fish around in the seat for a replacement, you wouldn't have to moon the audience. That image was so traumatic, there was no way I was gonna get anything but a sidecar. |

I built my seat, and it has worked great, made the legs out of aluminium, and the case out of 8mm laminated wood-plates. Sturdy, correct height, lots of space.
Very happy with it. |

Well I certainly want to thank all of you guys for the kind words about Walker Seats. As many of you know I have been out with Rotator Cuff surgery (hope I spelled that right) but am now back to making seats and catching up on orders. I have tried to build my seats from a perspective of the player. All but one of my seats will carry two of everything you need to play a gig so that you will have a backup. I have tried to make them light and price them attractively enough to get people to give them a try. Some of my first seats were a bit on the heavy side, but I have gotten the weight down considerably over the years. I too play and gig out so I know what it is "I" need. I need the comfort first and foremost and I need everything I need with as little weight as I can get. And I need something that will hold up over time. The seat that is the lightest is the Traveler Ultra Lite. It will only hold one volume pedal but two of most other items. The fact that it is super light weight is a plus and it will actually fit in the overhead compartment of most airplanes. Some of the pro players who travel a great deal needed something like that. And it is as sturdy and sure footed as any of my seats. Now as for the web site. While I must admit that I have been trying to make my website more attractive and informative, I just clicked on the link that Crow Bear provided and found what is there to be working properly. If you click on models, for instance, a drop down menu will show you what you are looking for and then simply go from there. I was talking with Bobby Bowman today and he informed me of this post. I apologize for not seeing it but have to admit I have not been getting into the forum lately. I believe that when someone is kind enough to say something nice about you.....you should at least be kind enough to thank them. I'll do better in the future. Thanks again for the kind words and for being a Walker Seat Customer.
God Bless
Ray Walker

Don't worry Mike it will not only hold you up but if the wife "should" happen to like your playing so much that she wants to sit on your lap.....the Ultra Lite can handle that too. Folks don't think because it's called the Traveler Ultra Lite that this somehow means it is weak or unable to take the beating and pressure of you big guys. It can take as much as any other seat I build. The legs support over 900 lbs and the cushioned seat can take that as well. Hope you enjoy the ride at the new gig Mike....Now relax and concentrate on having a good time and everything will work out. And finally thanks for choosing a Walker Seat.
God Bless
