I am considering updating my synth module (Roland 880 with expansion cards)to something newer having recently heard a new Yamaha and being wowed by the brass and wind section in it. I'm open to suggestions and trades. It needs to be Polyphonic and expansion cards are a plus. |

Jim, I tried several synth modules trying to find something that worked well with a GI20 synth driver, and I liked the sounds and capabilities of the Roland XV-5050 better than anything I tried. They are not made anymore, but are usually available on Ebay, and there are several expansion cards available. _________________ Darvin Willhoite

Also a Zum D10, a Mullen RP, and a restored Rose S10, named the "Blue Bird". Also, I have acquired and restored the plexiglass D10 MSA Classic that was built as a demo in the early '70s. I also have a '74 lacquer P/P, with wood necks, and a showroom condition Sho-Bud Super Pro. |

Thanks Darvin. Will look into them- can they possibly have as many patches as the owners manual lists (looks like hundreds!)? |

And I thought I was the only one who owned an old Roland synth. Mine's a U-110. I bet the cards are compatible with your 880. Or maybe not... _________________ -𝕓𝕆𝕓- (admin) - Robert P. Lee - Recordings - Breathe - D6th - Video |

Yeah, the cool think about the U-110 is that it has six separate audio outputs, one for each of the 6 instruments it can play at once.
It sounds great to me. Still, it's not a modern synth module. Doesn't even support the widely accepted General MIDI mappings.
A bump for Pali. _________________ -𝕓𝕆𝕓- (admin) - Robert P. Lee - Recordings - Breathe - D6th - Video |

Yes Jim, they can have a bookoo of patches as the owners manual says. I had two expansion cards in mine and there were around 1700 patches total. But, I didn't like the way the GI-20 programmed, so I decided to stay with my Roland GR-33 synth. _________________ Darvin Willhoite
