The bridge ground wire runs down from the saddle, then must make a right angle bend to get to the control section. Mark suggests using an unwound string to approach from the horizontal side and hooking the wire to get it to make the bend. I tried several different gauge strings to no avail, even creating a braided loop on one of them, all with no success.

I'd like to hear how some of you other guys solved this problem, as I am hitting a wall (or, at least, the ground wire is) with this.

Many thanks,

Mike

Try a thicker wound string and with lots of pushing/pulling, eventually it will go through.

I haven't built a Dynalap but I have had the same problem on a couple of my home made laps

A couple random ideas .. try fishing it from the cavity side, make sure the end of the string is not sharp and catching, maybe a tiny bit of tape on the end, possibly some heavier fishing line or weed whacker line might make the bend.

Tom and Roger,

many thanks for the suggestions--I did finally get the thing through. I tried a long time last night and this morning with no success "hooking" the wire (or at least, pulling it through after hooking it). What worked was this: I was able to get the ground wire to go the other way, to the pickup well. I ran the guitar string all the way through from the jack to the pickup well, then attached the wire to the string, and pulled the string back through. I never was able to get anything to make that right angle turn in the right direction, so I had to do something different. I guess I'm lucky that there was enough space for the string and the doubled-over wire. At any rate, if I had to do it over again (and I may get the model 01 later this year), I'd start with this method.
