Dave, Great line up this year too. My grandson was with me last year and he's ready to go again. All he talked about last year, on the way home, was how good that first guy on that BLUE steel was. Must really be the color, right. Hope to see you there and take care.

Robert;
it must've been the color- or the familiarity of the lullabye melodies in the medley I played for my son...there were a lot of better pickers than me there that day to remember.
Hey Gary,
Blue guitars WILL indeed look PURPLE if you are viewing them thru the bottom of a glass of RED WINE
Looking forward to hearing you on the 22th!

Dave, you're half-right! The St. Emilion I was enjoying was being dispensed from my sportsman flask directly to the beginning point of digestion. Bob, take the new high speed train down. Enjoy the ride and have a few cocktails!

"CH-CH-CH-CH-Changes - turn and face the strange..."
There are some new developments concerning the linup for next Sunday:
I am informed this AM by Glen Martin that Tommy White will be unable to attend due to an acute illness in his family. (My heartfelt sympathy and best wishes to Tommy, and family)
Stepping in to take up the slack in the schedule, on very short notice, will be Mr. Doug Jernigan .
This will be a first time appearance for Doug at our event and I look forward to it with great anticipation, although I regret the circumstances.
I wish we could have 'em BOTH..
Also, Dean Black, alhough expected to be on hand in his organizational capacity, has turned over his playing slot to a fine regional picker, Boo Miller.
That's all the news that fits, up to now. |

here is the official schedule from the program I received by e-mail this evening:
12:00Noon to 1:45- Jim Cohen, Bobby Edenton, Gary Lee Gimble, Boo Miller and Dave Van Allen
"This year these (above) players will be on stage together from Noon til 1:30 alternating songs and wrapping up with a 15 minute jam"
2:00-2:40 Jack Hamlett (Bigsby non pedal teenage prodigy)
2:45- 3:25 The Hula Monsters with Dave Geigerich (Fender Stringmaster Q8 and Dobro)
3:30-4:10 Leonard T. Zinn
4:15-5:10 Herbie Wallace
5:15-6:10 Bruce Bouton
6:15-7:10 Doug Jernigan
7:15-8:10 Buddy Charleton
"Stick around because at 8:15 is the Steel Guitar Jam"
I expect the masters will participate in that Jam.
so make your plans accordingly.
Personally I think Jernigan and Charleton should go on FIRST to spite all the slug-a-beds who always show up late, but that's just my opinion
Should be QUITE THE SHOW- C'Mon DOWN!!

ebb;
like it says two messages earlier in this same thread, TW has an illness in his family that caused him to bow out "last minute". Doug Jernigan is taking TW's slot.
Hope you can make it down, I'd enjoy to see ya. |

I wanted to say that we were very honored to be asked to play on this show, and am very sorry that we had to cancel. Johnny had a road date with Connie come in, and so we had to change our plans. I'm sure it will be a great show. I hope that we will have another chance to be a part of this show. Thanks to Mr. Black for inviting us..keep us in mind for next year.
Thanks so much, Joan Cox |
