C6th in other genres besides Hawaiian & Swing - 2 exampl

After the other thread on C6th's versatility in multiple genre's I thought I'd post two examples of tunes I did a few years back when I was first exploring what you could do with the tuning. Both were in 6-string C6th on a '37 Gibson EH-150 with a Lollar Charlie Christian pickup.

1) Antonio Carlos Jobim's classic Bossa Nova, One Note Samba

2) Coconut Grove. I was trying to go against the usual Hawaiian interpretation of this tune by going for an Earl Bostic sound. Bostic was a sax player in the 40s & 50s with a growly, bluesy, strip club kind of sound. He had a big jukebox hit with the standard tune, Flamingo.

thread You mentioned,though..I´d love to,since I´m
a C 6-only player,and for a reason...C 6 with a
couple of extras means: a wonderful,timeless set-up
that will give You access to any musical idiom...

I play some Bossa Nova stuff myself these days. My favorite is, "Slightly out of Tune." I think the Spanish name is, "Desafinado." You really can play anything in C6. And I do try to play everything from Gypsy Jazz to....well...Bossa Nova. And although I'm beginning to venture into other tunings a little, I still think that having one tuning upon which to play the widest possible variety of stuff is ideal. And C6 does fill the bill.
