I just got off the phone with Norm; he has confirmed that he will be in Phoenix at the SWSGA show the 22nd, 23rd and 24th of this month. Norm will be playing and entertaining along with so many great steel players.
I asked him about Merle's health issues; he said that Merle is doing just great after his surgery, they did a couple of local jobs in Bakersfield as a test of his endurance and ability, and everything is great! Norm says that they are going out on tour the first part of February, and they are coming to Las Vegas to the Alliente Casino and Hotel on Feb. 6th! I am planning to be there!

Thanks for the update, Billy. I'm glad to hear things are going well and that you'll get to see Hag with Norm again soon. I'll keep an eye on the tour schedule to see if they venture anywhere Cincy or Indy.

Merle had form of lung cancer - you can read about it here:

And he's still got a cravin' for the herb. So it's good that he still lives in Northern California! Whoa!

Hmmm sounds familar as this was exactly what my late wife went through (minus the pot part). She had the same surgery and was told she had a 80% chance of never having a problem again so no need for chemo or radiation. She was fine for 18 months but it did come back and they now say having some follow up Chemo can help increase the odds of it never coming back. I hope Hag has some good doctors??
