Here is a great slow tune from Hank's October 10, 1947 session (in which he recorded his famous Humpty Dumpty Heart): This is one of the earliest (if not THE EARLIEST) example of Hank Thompson's definitive Honky Tonkin' Style, mainly invented by the greatly underrrated Ralph "LEFTY" Nason on steel guitar.

Nice! The Louvins have a real nice version of that one as well. |

It was interesting to see Hank's wardrobe primarily made up of "Nudie Suits" made by Nudie in the San Fernando Valley. There was also another tailor in the S.F. Valley named "Turk" who prior to Nudie outfitted many of the Western Movie Stars. In the early 40's the Cowboy tailor was a big Western Store on Main St. in downtown Los Angeles named "Buck Bernies". |

Sounds like "Lefty" was primarily using the Popular A6th tuning of that era on the West Coast. Just about all of us were using that as one of our tunings on our two and three necked steels. |
