I've been seing some really great views on the vht 2/90/2 rackmount power amp. On this forum. it seems that this is the king of rack amps. Even though it is expensive and heavy.

Well I was thinking of buying one but I've noticed that the new one called the VHT G-2902-S Two/Ninety/Two Power Amp. How many different versions of this amp are there. Is there any pro's and con's of having an older vs a new one.

Thanks

Ben

The 2/90/2 is an amazing amp. Last time I talked with the VHT guys they said the only mod they were doing was to make the amp fit into a standard rack better.

I don't know of any different versions of this power amp ....Why mess with perfection ? .....Be ready for a HEAVY amp !!.....It's not for the squeemish !!....It DOES however deliver in spades tone and power wise .... This is a case where you DO get what you pay for .....Great sounding amp with a good pre to go along with it .... Jim

Brad Sarno (the smartest amp man I know) had great things to say about VHT amps.

Personally, if I were ready to reckon with the gravity factor, I'd have a Revelation Preamp and one of these VHT power amps in a rack for a steel rig. There are a couple of guys out there with this setup, and the reports are quite good.

I put my 2/90/2 in a separate rack case to ease the pain.
I have a rack case for my pre/amp, effects and etc. and then go to another rack case that contains the 2/90/2 and a Sonic Maximizer.
I always run in stereo so from the 2nd case I go to a pair of Peavey speaker enclosures with 15" Black Widows.
