I ordered the Vegas 400 tone kit from Peavey several months ago, and I finally installed it last Saturday.
The kit is certainly not for someone who has a fear of soldering irons, or of tearing into the circuit board of your one and only steel amplifier! However, once the fears are conquered, it only takes about an hour, and isn't all that hard to do.
The end result is in my opinion, a smoother softer sound. I have to admit though, that I am still searching for the right settings; it "really" changed from the way my tone controlls were originaly set!
After the change is in, I am happy I did it, and the Peavey tone kit works well in my opinion. _________________ You can observe a lot just by looking |

Tonally, the mod reduces the mids and and boosts the bass response significantly, so it's very advantageous to players desiring those characteristics. On the other hand, players that normally run their bass fairly low and their mids fairly high will likely notice only a slight change (or none at all) after the mod is installed. |
