"I ment to say HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!"

Leroy, I knew what you meant, and I did have a happy thanksgiving with those who I love the most, my family, and I know that you did also. I doubt that I will make it to the December 6th jam because we are scheduled to visit a daughter out of town, but I know that you'll have a goodun.

I can't be there this meeting, but there will be plenty of steel players to fill-in. What I do need is someone to replace me with my coffee-drinking and donut-eating skills! Very Happy

Jimmy and Gene, you missed a good one.

All I should say is WOW! That would be 'nuff said!

I found myself sitting between two of the greats: Leroy Wood, who likely knows every song ever written and every possible way to play it, and Richard "Dickie" Dewey, who seems always to "go where no man has gone before". How do you guys do it?

Of course all the other steelers played great, and will someone please extend my thanks to the guys who played bass and drums? Their playing was so solid and "tasteful" and kept things going for us.

Ken and Leroy, you did it again and my biggest thanks goes out to you guys.

See ya..........Joel

ps. If anyone wants to find out why Wayne Morton was referred to as "Mr.Smooth", you should get one of his CDs. The one I have is called SLEEP WALKIN' IN WAYNE'S WORLD.

Louie, thank you for your interest in attending our meetings. You & I visited recently during the St Louis convention while sitting on the stairs to the food court eating fast food. Your contribution to the annual steel-guitar show in Dallas is well known!

To answer your question, our next meeting is usually decided during a current meeting. We do need to establish a regular date so that out of towners like you will know when we are meeting.

My best to all,

Gene

Gene I agree with you. Except we are all so busy, that As one thinks back on time, you wonder,( How did I ever have time to work a job.) (HA-HA)

But if the reason for setting a standard date
for the jam,is growth in memberships, the response from outside sources, and allow outside interests to enjoy the FELLOWSHIP,BROTHERHOOD,and GREAT STEEL GUITAR MUSIC, The members that have experienced what I have, will plan time around their schedules. To know the date of each jam? (WELL) sure sounds justified to me. It also allows the outside sources to grow with us, and hopefully soon we can move to the big stage and put on a show.

Joel, I could not say it better what a jam we had. It just gets better each time we get together and lately each time we pick up a new player. Thanks to Ron who came up from near Pauls Valley for his first time. Seems like we never fall below 9 players and often have more. Sometimes we have some one drop in like the great Randy Beavers !!! It is just a great group of guys that are fellowshiping together having a great time. When the jam becomes something you don't want to miss then we have something to be proud of. How great it is that a couple of regulars drive from the southern part of the state to attend and they contribute so much. One of them named Ernie promises to bring his steel next jam. I sure he plays it as well as his standard so we have a lot to look forward to. I agree that a set date might work to our benifit and as Ernie said we retirees need it to work into our busy schedule.
I to want to say thanks to Ken and Leroy for their dedication and hard work to keep interest going.
Ken was buy Mon. and reported back that Bob Sturat was relesed from the hospital and doing his therapy at home. Such good news let's keep up our prayers for a full recovery so he can fill his spot again. Sory, it is just a good feeling about our group I get carried away. Merry Christmas and may you be blessed as we prepare to celebrate the birth of our Saviour Jesus the Christ.

Thanks Guys for your kind words. I was impressed with the willingness of J.R., Lorren, Ken, and Ed to jump in and get their feet wet on some of the songs. Playing with a live band is a good way to learn. Our Pro's, Wayne Morton, Ernie Dunlap, and first-time visitor Ron Stanley showed us how it's done right.

Special thanks to Wayne Hutchison for being there even after such a tragic loss of his grandson. Our prayers are with you and your family.

Louie, we would be happy to have you sit in with us anytime. We will post our next meeting time on the Forum. If you would E-Mail me your brother's name & phone number at LWOOD524@COX.NET, I will contact him about our group and Jam Session.

See Ya Later----LEROY

What I am about to say may shed some light on Leroy using 2008 for the year. Our leader Leroy more than lickly will not be making the jam. He has been putting off for some time a date with the surgeon. I understand the date will be Jan. 16, however, the time has not been set and may not be until after the 1st. I am asking that we start our prayers for Leroy that he will be receiving the best of care, for the hands of the surgeon and the staff at Midwest City hospital. Pray that it will be God's will for full recovery and that he will return to us in full health. Pray for strength for his lovely wife and each member of his family. This is what our fellowship is about supporting each other and Leroy needs to feel this support from each of us.

I want to wish everyone at the OKC Jam, A Happy New Year and I am looking forward to the
17th of Janurary.

Ken Collins which is OKC's finest Steel Player, said he may come by depending on his picken
schedule. That guy understands and knows how to play and explain the C6 neck as well as the E9th. Man what a valuable player the club has from time to time. Thanks Ken for being such a Teaching Tool.
