I've been using one for over a year now. It is very "hissy" or noisy when I put it in the effects loop on my Nashville 400 as the instructions say to do. If I use it in line from guitar to volume pedal, the thing is quiet. It is decent sounding and fools a lot of people, but, like the Goodrich Match-Bro series, it does not sound exactly like a reso guitar, but close. If you need a Dobro sound on stage, I would recommend the Bo-Bro (as well as the Goodrich units which are incredibly high dollar units and not much - if at all - better).
Of course, if you can play the real thing, that is the best way to go. |

I've been using mine for a couple years. I put it in the chain right from the steel before everything else and it's very quiet.
I use a Goodrich tone bar made of a light weight nylon type material.. I got it from Bobbe. It cuts the sustain, it's easy to pick up for hammer ons and it sounds more like a reso than a regular bar.
It sounds best if you stick to the unwound strings and think dobro. If you want to get down to the lower register, you will need to roll off the bass.
Given the choice of a microphone or a pickup, and more strings to tune... I go for the BoBro.
I'm seriously thinking about a Fluger for next seasons rodeo gigs, cause it's a beeotch carrying my gear up to the bandstand. |

I definitely need to order that plastic bar from Bobbe. I had a Match-Bro with the plastic bar and it makes a big difference. I wish someone would make a plastic bar in the shape of a Stevens type bar for the ability to do pull offs. |

I bought mine from Bobbe in Pratville Al. and when I use it people look around and try to find the dobro. I like it. Several players said where did you get that.

I cut the top of a broom stick off with a hack saw to make a bar. Sounds pretty good. |

Josh,Thats a pretty cool idea. Never thought about that. I've actually got one of the plastic type bars that use to come with the Matchbro. If someone were to order a BoBro I'd recommend getting the bar that goes with it. I really do like my BoBro. Great sounding pedal. _________________ Show Pro #26 & #83,BJS bars,Stereo Steel,Tommy Huff cabs loaded with JBL D130's, Wampler pedals,NV112,NV400, Steelers Choice Seats

You are correct Josh, the broom handle bar works fine in my opinion, several other players have done this successfully.
My favorite bar is a hard maple, but on some fast styles with "pull offs" you still can't beat the stainless steel style bar, but I'm sure you know all this. (I'm not a great resonation player,)

I also have the BoBro and like it a lot but I do wish it was a little brighter or had a tone control.
A question for you guys that are using a broom handle: doesn't the wound strings cut into the wood and plug up the winding on the strings? I use either my Z bar or BJS.
