This forum is great place to learn about strange phenomena (i.e. cabinet drop, etc.)
But it was Guitar Player where I read about amps specially designed for steel guitar (I think it was an article on "Pete Drake remembered"), because something in the signal of steel guitars could do harm to standard guitar amplifiers.
Is there such a thing?
I wouldn't ask, were it not for the problems I'm having with a Music Man amp. It sat in a damp shack too long, developed ugly signal clipping. I had it serviced. The problem reappeared after a few months - just after I got my D-8 (rather primitive instrument, "hi-fi-ish" tone, fast response). Back to tech, tried out with steel, bad noise again. |
