I just returned from the Dallas SGC and it was fantastic. I agree with another post that the volume was alittle high for comfort and for critical listening. Charlie Norris did a great job of assembling talent. I think, in MHO, that it would be better enjoyed by having fewer players. Let them play a 55 minute set. The distraction of changing the stage for a new player every 25 minutes may be too much. Lord knows I would hate to have to make the call as to who not to invite. The number of great players is really encouraging. |

Everyone's opinion I guess but personally, I didn't mind all of the players. It gives the chance to hear more people play when they have it like that. 55 minutes is a long time to sit, but i could have listened to Ralph Mooney all day. |

This was my first convention. I liked the pacing of the event.
But I also felt the music was too loud. The one thing that surprised me was the amount of talking going on in the audience during the performances. Even as loud as the music was, there were times when the conversations were covering over the beautiful steel music being played on the stage. |

Matt, I really agree with you on both counts. The audience chatter was bordering on rudeness to the players. Part of the problem is having the vendors in the auditorium, which is probably a financial necessity to pay the bills. I sat up front and I was surprised at how much off-stage banter was going on just beside the stage. And, this was mostly from performers who had already played their set. But, still, I don't want to sound negative; it was a great show. |

It also should be remembered that these shows are a great reunion of old friendships. The enthusiasm of seeing each other at the shows is obvious. |
