The Opal City Poker Chips will ride on February 24th at a bar in Lytle Creek. ...the venue is Green Mountain Ranch in Lytle Creek near San Bernardino and Fontana.
originally it was to be the actual Opal City Poker Chips: John Ware, John Selk, Ron
Coleman, and Bob Warford, a super picker bar band whose one and only record deal fell through and they soon folded circa 1972.

Since the original arrangements for the gig, a couple of members have been injured in seperate incidents, and the supposedly retired Robb Strandlund has moved back to CA and will be playing too.
Now it has evolved into a wide-ranging jam session of players who have largely not seen any of each other for many years.....

Bob Warford's daughter, Melissa, is a waitress on weekends---actually, the place is only open on weekends, (I think).
They are playing outside -(outside!!)- in February in the mountains, outdoors of the Green Mountain. Apparently the owner has heaters that work very well.

Bob Warford and John Ware have mentioned that they've decided to invite all the old
gang from Claremont to perform, so that means Chris Darrow, Cindy Edwards, Chester
Crill, and Rugged Robb Strandlund, who has just moved back after many years.

Rumoured to attend are Gib Guilbeau, John Beland and maybe Gene Parsons or Sneaky Pete, but they probably aren't going to be able to make it.

Inbetween them these guys have played for or with Freddie Weller, Red Rhodes, Michael Nesmith, the Everly Brothers, Linda Ronstadt, Kaliedoscope, the New Lost City Ramblers, David Lindley, the Kentucky Colonels, Emmylou Harris, Ricky Skaggs, Bob Luman, Nelson, Rodney Crowell and a zillion others!!

This sounds like a pretty cool gig and I really wish I could make it.

Michael, I like walking to places, and people rarely shoot each other here, no seriously, the biggie is that the almighty US dollar is worth twice as much here, which means that I'd have half the money when I moved.. not that I'm not thinking about it!!!
LOL

Scott I'm not sure, it's kind of like a starting point really, although I'm hoping that the Opal City Poker Chips will be cranking out a few sets here and there, might even get a bit of interest going.
Bob Warford, now he's a killer, kind of Clarence White No#2, in fact he's playing the second ever stringbender Tele ever made, and like Clarence White's it's a different from the one that got marketed to the rest of the Stringbender community.
There is talk that this event might be recorded too.
I get my vicarious kicks out of letting someone out there know that it's all actually happening.

They rarely shoot each other here either it's just that there's so many people that around here, rarely means once or twice a day. You'll need a car-that's for sure, but there are lots of little neighborhoods where you can live and function within a 6 or 8 block area.Money wise, you'll spend whatever you bring in minutes so the exchange rate will be meaningless soon enough. But think of it-you could become a music journalist for the L.A.Times or one(or more)of dozens of other Sothern California publications as that seems to be your bent.Men of lessor knowledge than you have done well in that field around here. This town runs on bull$h!+,so worst case scenario-you could be like the one-eyed man in the land of the blind. -MJ-

Hi Michael, despite my flippant humour I actually have no real qualms in the social side of things, or the transport, actually I'm an L.A sort of person, although Oakland and San Francisco have kind of caught my eye as well.
Nice words though, thanks for that!
More food for thought, hmmmmm.
