Dwight, I was expecting to see one of the old Fender 400 cable-pull pedal steels. Instead, this is a more modern Sho-Bud made Fender S10. These were only made a year or two during the '70s, and so are fairly rare. I don't think I even realized they made a single-neck version, or a formica finish. I've only seen D10 lacquer models. But this one is a nice black mica. You might get more interest in it if in the title you call it a "black mica Sho-Bud Fender S10."

This might be a better starter than the usual Sho-Bud Maverick or Carter Starter. And I think most steel shops could upgrade it to pro level with 2-4 additional knee levers.

Very interesting instrument. Good luck.

Yes this pro model twang here. The finish is a matted finish. I have seen others before laquered in D-10 but yes the pull system is way better then the cable Shobud/ Fenders. And the fit is spot on IMHO. Every fender I have ever strummed fits perfect for playing. Thanks for the input David. Dwight

How many raises and lowers does the changer have? My D10 Fender~Bud had a double raise, double lower changer. I always thought the Student S10 had a more limited changer. More like a Maverick. There were three models. Artist D10, Artist S10, and the student S10.
Love the wide string spacing on these steels, and they have a very Fendery sound...Jerry

This baby has what looks to be single lower and raise. Hex shafts, screw in legs, one adjustable for guitar balance.I am not an expert on these Fenders but from what I have seen this model is a good platform to start with. Very upgradable easily. I had a Carter Starter and was afraid it would implode on me one day. I have an extra set of standard pedal steel adjustable legs and they fit perfectly. I got ideas and the parts for this geetar but already have my ultimate steel project in the works.
Thanks

I had a late 70's S-10 Fender/Sho-Bud Artist Model. It was the next model up from Dwight's and had 3x4 with the Emmons set-up. These were built here in Nashville for Fender by the Sho-Bud Company. They played great but sounded like a Tele. However, I wish now I had of kept mine.

Yeah I would like to have that changer assembly on this one. They are nice. I want also to replace or rewind pickup a little heavier. But the function and fit are spot on for me.
